Identification of the gaps found in SLE patient support turned out to be very insightful. Patients commonly see multiple doctors, have short-term memory impairment and have trouble remembering and relaying symptoms effectively. Multiple doctors sometimes resulted in care gaps or overlaps. Patients also lacked support and connections to other SLE patients to have opportunities for understanding and empathy. It was interesting to me that this largely boiled down to communication needs and understanding, something that mobile phone technology can greatly aid!
